Is typicity always good?
All wine merchants need a few sobering moments in their lives. My most recent came when accidentally watching Celebrity Great British Bake Off, in which keen amateur bakers from the rank and file of the entertainment industry competed for fame and glory ... through baking. Their efforts were dissected with great precision and gravitas by two experts, whom I must confess I found faintly ridiculous, handing down their pedantic judgements laced with baffling cake-related jargon.
The hypocrisy dawned on me before we reached the third sponge, and I sat through the rest of the episode silently thankful that wine...
