So many 2010 crus bourgeois du Médoc were shown in London the week before last that it took three of us to report on the 191 wines on view.
But they were impressive. No horrors at all and lots of pleasure, particularly in view of the recommended prices, which ranged from £12 to £20 a bottle. The standard of winemaking is really very high indeed – pretty much up to classed-growth standard. What they tend to lack is absolutely first-class terroir which will yield wines that are worth ageing for decades rather than years. But...
