The aroma as you walked downstairs to the tasting room was fabulously inviting – aromatic fruit and a delicate spicy perfume and what I can only describe as the scent of pleasure to come. As the first taster to descend, I was surprised to hear very similar reactions from so many others. Talk about raising your expectations... Mine were not in the least disappointed, though there was a significant range of styles, vintages (from 2001 back to 1978) and prices (from around £50 to nearly £400 a bottle).
