Aalto – the tasting notes
Monday 23 April 2007
Please read these notes, taken at Aalto’s new UK importers Justerini & Brooks, in conjunction with my account of how Spain is invading St James’s. In general the wines are admirably savoury and deep-flavoured with the PS bottlings from selected vineyards notably more refreshing and suave until we reach 2004, the first vintage they had complete control of all the vineyards that supply these wines, whose regular bottling is currently stunning.
Aalto 2000 Ribera del Duero 16 Drink 2008-10
Grainy, powerful, but although very opulent the oak is very obvious. Very slightly rustic.
Production 70,000 bottles. Sold Out...
