It’s not every day I get to taste a 1966 bordeaux, and the vintages 1979 and 1980 seem, according to our database, to have largely passed me by. I was wine correspondent of the Sunday Times when they were released but at that stage, going to Bordeaux to taste en primeur was still a relatively rare activity.
