Fourteen years ago, Clare Valley winemaker Col McBryde was named the 2009 Young Gun of Wine at an awards ceremony in Melbourne. Founded by entrepreneur Rory Kent just two years before, the Young Gun awards were – and still are – all about discovering and championing new talent among Australia’s next-gen winemakers.
