Today we move further south in our Bordeaux 2018 tasting articles, to St-Julien and Margaux. See this guide to the entirety of our coverage of this exceptional vintage.
Whereas I found unifying threads through the wines in St-Estèphe and Pauillac, I could not say the same for St-Julien, though this is admittedly a relatively small sample. Compared with the wines of other communes, here I noticed more wines where the oak seemed a little dominant at this stage but in most cases the vintage provided enough richness of fruit to suggest it will not be a long-term problem...
