Brunello president resigns

Francesco Marone Cinzano stepped down earlier this week as president of the Consorzio of producers of scandal-hit Brunello di Montalcino. His position was becoming increasingly untenable since his company Col d’Orcia is reported to be one of those under investigation for including grapes other than Sangiovese in their Brunellos. (17 Jun update - Sr Cinzano assures me that Col d'Orcia has indeed been inspected and stoutly maintains that his wines contain nothing but Sangiovese.
