When Chris Boiling bought his winehouse and small vineyard in Slovenia, he imagined winters would be spent getting to grips with the red and black runs at the Pohorje ski resort in Maribor. He never imagined being ankle-deep in snow pruning vines… alone.

I’m pruning the vines on my own this year. My wife usually helps, but this time she’s pole-dancing. No, although this Slovenian dream has sapped our savings, we aren’t totally desperate (yet).
