Does the Wine Spectator patronise women?

I was amused to find in my inbox last night, after a long day hunched over the incredibly varied 2003 burgundies, an email from my friend Tom Matthews, editor of the New York-based Wine Spectator.
A group of women working in and around the UK wine trade has got together to form a British branch of Women of Wine (womenofwine@yahoo.co.uk) and asked me to be their patron (matron?). Accordingly I was interviewed recently about my thoughts on wimmin in wine and this appeared in the trade weekly Harpers last weekend. Faithful visitors to this site will know already...
