Patrick Grubb MW ran Sotheby’s wine department 1973-1984 but now runs Patrick Grubb Wine Selections (tel +44 1869 340229) specialising in fine and rare madeira, one of the world’s most thrilling drinks. He recently held a tasting in London of single bottles of some real treasures, most of which are not even available commercially but are taken from minuscule stocks left on the island or are virtually the last bottles in existence. In fact of the wines below he had (extremely limited) stocks only of the two Cossart Buals, £66 + VAT for the 1969 and £170 + VAT...
