La Vinicole – saviour of Bordeaux?

While in New York in October I went to take a look at La Vinicole, a Soho loft owned by Bordeaux négociant Duclot and operated with the aim of persuading New York’s younger sommeliers that bordeaux is worth considering.

This airy space, complete with coffee machine, kitchen, wooden floors, white walls and arty photographs of various James Bonds, is run by the engaging French-American Philippe Newlin, who turned to a career in wine after 14 years in capital markets.
