Nicola Gutman (née Cornelius) won the award in 2009. Previously a city lawyer seeking to move into the world of wine, Nicola became an apprentice at Liberty Wines in 2007, the first year of their apprenticeship scheme. She now manages Liberty's own brands, and writes about wine in her spare time.
