The majority of these 100+ wines were tasted in Asti as part of the strangely-named annual Barbera Meeting to which producers submit their Barberas to be tasted by a panel of international wine writers. Considering that so many of the famous names are missing here, this array opened my eyes to just how many ambitious Barberas are being made today, many of them carrying the names of individual crus or selections. And this is just a selection. I tasted all 40 of the Barbera d'Alba bottlings...
