Priorat is today, by far, the most highly regarded Catalan wine region; its wines are attracting worldwide attention. It is located an hour’s drive south of Barcelona within the province of Tarragona. Furthermore, it is one of the most dynamic wine appellations in Spain. The increase in the number of producers is unparalleled in any other appellation. In 1998 they were 24 wineries. Today there are 106.
