Robinson loves Pavie

Two very pleasant surprises at this week’s blind tasting of the Premiers Grands Crus Classés de St-Émilion:
- Ch Pavie was included for the first time for some years.
- It was magnificent. My favourite of all the wines in that tasting. Not too overdone but with much more substance and interest than many other wines without being too obviously tarted up. (If the signfiicance of this passes you by, don't worry – it certainly isn't worth any more study.)
Less pleasant at the same tasting was the near diplomatic incident when the contents of one giant Riedel glass...
