A snippet of Austrian Rieslings follows below, as tasted in London at the annual Austrian tasting earlier this year. The notes cover a range of regions and classifications, with the latter being significantly more influential on style than the former.
Broadly speaking, those styles have two poles: lighter, leaner and lower in alcohol, and fuller, riper and higher in alcohol. In the Wachau, these styles are given the names Federspiel (maximum alcohol 12.5%)...
