It always pays to follow keen, new wine merchants whose pricing policy is inspired by enthusiasm and the need to attract customers' attention. Stone, Vine & Sun is a prime example.
The firm was started last year by Simon Taylor who had spent the previous 23 years in the art world, ending up as deputy managing director of Sotheby's Europe. He buys some wine direct and some via UK importers but seems to be operating on a delightfully low cost base (or, is not really interested in making much of a profit at the moment).
