This is the first in a series of Spanish tasting articles to be published this week, of which the most extensive is Ferran's survey of the exciting developments in Galicia.
The 5º that appears on the label of Valbuena means that it is released only after five years of ageing. For its winemaker Gonzalo Iturriaga de Juan (see Julia's profile of him in Vega Sicilia – revolution not required), that means he is only now promoting the first vintage that he blended, the 2013.
