When Masters of Wine Caro Maurer of Germany and Yiannis Karakasis of Greece agreed to present a masterclass comparing Riesling and Assyrtiko at Prowein 2020, the 80 available tickets were taken in record time, showing just how great is professional interest in Greece’s most famous white wine grape. Then came COVID-19 and the big international trade fair in Düsseldorf was cancelled, so the tasting didn’t take place – until late September this year when it was part of the Vedema wine festival...
