Because quantities are so small, vertical tastings of burgundy are all too rare. I have been lucky enough to benefit from the horizontal tastings organised by my fellow Master of Wine Sarah Marsh in London. (See these vintage assessments: 2018 v 2003, 2003 and 2004 reds, 2010 whites, 2000 and 2001 reds, 2009 whites, 2008 whites and 2002 reds.)
But virtually the only opportunities I have had for tastings of several vintages of the same wine have been the odd grand...
