On Monday 18 March at an extraordinary meeting of the Rheingau chapter of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter, ie the association of premium wine growers of Germany that includes several aristocrats among its members) it was agreed not to pursue the path of registering with the State of Hessen the title Grosses Gewächs as a legally official designation for their top dry wines.
