How to store, and produce, screwcapped bottles

Purple pager David Morgan wrote yesterday (see below) to ask whether screwcapped bottles should be stored upright or horizontal. I was able to get advice from Sir Screwcap himself, Jeffrey Grosset of Clare Valley Riesling fame who is in London to see a new book on screwcaps published today at the London Wine Trade Fair at ExCel.
