‘What I did on my holidays’ is a favoured essay title for teachers trying to get back into term-time routine. Here is my variant on it: What I drank, or at least tasted, on my holidays.
As a family we’ve been spending our summers in the Languedoc for the last 27 years – as I became extremely well aware at the end of last month while we cleared the house in anticipation of long-overdue renovation.
