Loire 2012 – the year of Muscadet?

Loire courtiers Charles & Philippa Sydney write:
The 2012 harvest is over. A few parcels of Chenin were left hanging out in the Layon (below), waiting for the weather to go cold, sunny and windy but in the end hardly any really sweet wine was made at all – a record.

Otherwise…
Dry whites – Sauvignon and Muscadet As per, quality is good to fantastic in Muscadet, Touraine, Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé, with the Muscadets promising to be among the best ever. Quantities are way down in Muscadet and Touraine but look fine in Sancerre and Pouilly.
