Oregon – off-beat good-value picks

Our intrepid Oregon correspondent tasted through over 250 Oregon wines priced under $30. While she turned up some good Pinot Noir, the hunting was far more fun and fruitful among lesser-known varieties.
Oregon, the Willamette Valley in particular, has long been regarded as a source of great-value Pinot Noir. However, last week my search through under-$30 wines turned up only 15 Pinot Noirs that I was truly enthusiastic about. Many more good-value options were found among other varieties.
