Oxford Companion seals the EU-US wine accord

Thought you would like to know that that EU-US wine accord was signed in London this morning.
Austria, which currently holds the rotat
ing presidency of the EU, hosted the signing and provided the wine. (The Austrians are congenitally good hosts in my experience.)

But in the picture you see US Trade Representative Ambassador Rob Portman being presented with a copy of the Oxford Companion to Wine by EU Agriculture Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel – just to keep him up to speed with what we all think of oak chips.
He looks absolutely thrilled with it, doesn’t he?
