Penfolds' Bin 389 vs Grange

Bin 389, first produced by Max Schubert in 1960, has been variously described as ‘baby Grange’ or the more offensive ‘poor-man’s Grange’. It’s certainly a lot less expensive than Grange but I don’t think either description is appropriate and the reason is in the blend.
Peter Gago, surely now on the verge of exhaustion after his constant travelling in recent weeks (make that months, years ...), including the simultaneous multi-country webcast tasting of Bin 389 from Vinexpo earlier this week, still managed to be his lively, communicative self at this comparative tasting in London on Wednesday of six vintages...
