Record prices at Germany's centenary auctions

One of the highlights of the VDP (German premium wine producers' association) 100th anniversary celebrations was the series of three auctions held on 24, 25 an 26 September in Trier (Mosel), Bad Kreuznach (Nahe) and Kloster Eberbach (Rheingau) respectively. All in all, 15,000 special bottles of wine, unusually from all German wine regions in this centenary year, were sold for a total sum of €1.5 million. [Meanwhile, on the first two days of this auction weekend, relatively new California wine auctioneers Spectrum sold a total of $3.39 million worth of wine in their sales in Beverly Hills and Hong Kong...
