Does the world really need another Riedel stem?
Oregon winemakers thought so, Georg Riedel of Riedel Glas Austria eventually agreed, and now the Oregon Pinot Noir glass is the only one in the Riedel collection developed for a specific varietal produced in a specific region.
What could be next? A Paso Robles Syrah glass? A Columbia Valley Riesling glass? A Virginia Norton glass? Riedel firmly says no. The Oregon Pinot Noir glass was a one-off, he says, initially fueled more by the desire of the state’s winemakers to have such a vessel than by Riedel’s to desire to make one...
