The second afternoon of our two-day Southwold-on-Thames tasting of 2014 bordeaux was devoted to 38 whites, 17 dry wines followed by 21 sweet.
In youth, the dry whites had been marked by particularly tart Sauvignon Blanc whereas in our tasting one or two wines looked a bit flabby – but most of the least impressive simply seemed to lack ripe fruit quality. However, the best examples – and Ch Smith Haut Lafitte must win some sort of prize...
