There’s nothing flashy about the Auvergne winegrowers, unless you count the flashing red lights (right) and the slightly wearing sound effects in the exhibition space of the 40-ha (100-acre) Vulcania theme park (below, in rather better weather than during our visit), which was specially brought out of its winter moth-balling for this one-day event: the world’s first-ever professional volcanic wine fair. The event brought together not just 10 local producers but also another 20 from around the world – from other parts of France as well as from Italy...
