Julia and I each did a day at last week’s two-day tasting of 2005 St-Emilions at Decanter magazine and even if Julia's day on the lower slopes had its fair share of unbalanced wines, my day at higher altitudes was generally a great pleasure, confirming our favourable impressions of this vintage now that almost all the wines are in bottle. It was also a particularly useful tasting at filllng in many gaps since the UGC 2005 tasting, as usual, featured only about 20 St-Emilions.
