£3.67 a bottle – however do they do it?

The wine range at Asda, the no-nonsense UK supermarket chain, achieves the apparently impossible, for there are perfectly respectable bottles here priced as low as £3.67. How they manage to do it is beyond me – in fact I'd perhaps rather not know – but for bargain hunters, the Asda range is a tempting proposition.
Between £5 and £10 there are a couple of strong performers too – the Petit Chablis in particular. Otherwise, the bulk of what I tasted has as good a quality as you could hope for at the prices, and to know that wine is so...
