Alto Adige – Cantina Terlano, a culture of ageing

After the clinical part of my investigation, tasting 41 Pinot Biancos under blind conditions, came the research in the field. To get a better picture of Pinot Bianco and the people behind it, I visited three very different estates, each representing an aspect of the Alto Adige make-up.
The first was Cantina Terlano (Kellerei Terlan), a co-op which with its high-quality output has made an international name for itself, showing convincingly that mediocrity does not need to be the end result. It takes its name from the subregion Terlano (Terlan), and officially recognised as a sottozona within the Alto Adige...
