Australian wine – more independents please

Went to a very interesting tasting yesterday at Australia House in London called Independents Day. It was designed to answer the oft-voiced criticism that Australian wine exporters seem interested only in selling to the big chains and supermarkets, in the UK anyway. The new regional manager UK Kirsten Moore made it clear that they were even offering two £1,000 bursaries to independent retail businesses "looking to realise their full potential in featuring Australian wine”.
I applaud this. Those of us who have been lucky enough to visit Australia know that Australia’s real interest for wine lovers lies in the hundreds...
