Bacchus and other English delights

Tim examines a range of wines from Bacchus, the grape that is supposed to be most suitable for English still wines, and we all chip in some other native ferments.
Tim writes English (and Welsh) wine is experiencing something of a boom. Wine GB data show 3,578 ha (8,838 acres) now planted, up 83% in just three years. This is primarily due to the success of English sparkling wine, with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier representing just under 70% of all vines, and sparkling wine accounting for 69% of 2018’s record 15.6 million-bottle vintage.
