In 2010 the non-extreme summer temperatures, punctuated by coolish nights, were particularly good at retaining acidity, but the drought meant that berries were small and flavours concentrated. Result? Some exceptionally successful dry white wines – from nervy to fat. Really successful vintages for sweet white bordeaux are, fortunately, not that rare nowadays, but I'd say it is some time since there has been such a good one for dry whites.
