During this year's June heatwave in southern France I spent a couple of days in and around the Ventoux appellation – not least taking part in the think tank organised by Nicole Sierra-Rolet and her team at Chêne Bleu, described in Fine wines, fine minds. En route to La Verrière south of Vaison-La-Romaine, overlooked by the Dentelles de Montmirail (see the top left hand corner of the map below), I visited two of the more prominent Ventoux producers, Domaine de Fondrèche and Château Pesquié, where I photographed this map and whose locations...
