It was not just the 2018 Chianti Classico vintage that was a delightful surprise at this year’s big showing in Florence but also the equally good, admittedly few, 2017 Riservas I tasted. I decided to focus on the best producers, because I feel it makes no sense to focus on mediocrity in an already challenging vintage in the fallacious hope of finding gold.
