How Australians have been turned on to Burgundy

I was amazed on my recent visit to Australia by how rapidly restaurant wine lists there have embraced serious, top quality imported wines recently – particularly but not exclusively Burgundy. There are wines here that we don’t see in the UK. At the dinner for the associate judges at the Hunter Valley Wine Show, for instance, every one of Descendientes de J Palacios’ micro-production, single vineyard bottlings from Bierzo were shown, thanks to Scott Wasley who has single-handedly introduced Australia to Spain’s best wines via his company The Spanish Acquisition.
