Another set of outstanding new releases from the Kellers in Germany’s Rheinhessen. Also, news of crazy high-density planting, pictured above, and the rise of German Chardonnay.
The 23 wines I tasted in mid March at the Keller estate in Flörsheim-Dalsheim, an hour by train south of Frankfurt, comprised Riesling and Silvaner from 2024, Chardonnay and Spätburgunder from 2023 and three sparkling wines, not least the world’s very first taste of Grande Cuvée no 3, which Felix Keller manually disgorged in the garden while I was tasting.
