Following Alessio's car in the blazing sunlight, in stark contrast to the aquamarine sea, we drove up to Capo Milazzo, a narrow tongue of land jutting into the sea immediately east of Milazzo. We halted at an 18th-century villa which once belonged to Barone Giuseppe Lucifero di San Nicolo. In 1956 it was bequeathed by his widow, the Baronessa Maria Lucifero, to the commune of Milazzo. It is now a foundation run by volunteers that takes care of children with learning and other disabilities. It keeps its head above water...
