The credentials of Grosse Gewächse from the Nahe have never been in doubt since the classification of the VDP came into operation more than a decade ago. There are at least four producers from that region – Diel, Dönnhoff, Emrich Schönleber, Schaefer Fröhlich – who have consistently featured among the elite of producers of dry German Riesling. And that number does not even include Martin Tesch, who makes some superb trocken wines, but only a tiny amount of one Grosses Gewächs...
