A generic tasting of Sicilian wine has become an annual fixture on London's wine calendar. The event is organised by the Istituto Regionale Vini e Olii di Sicilia, which, unlike most other Italian producer organisations, firmly believes in a strong presence in the UK market, something that can only be achieved by, well, being present. Other Consorzios trying to sell wines in marginal third markets, please take note; this proactive and useful approach just might give a better return on your investment than a more lackadaisical attitude.
