Valtellina – current tasting notes

The following are tasting notes written by Paul Howard in conjunction with his long overview of Valtellina, Lombardy's subalpine wine region.
AR PE PE (Arturo Pelizzatti Perego)
Ar Pe Pe, 2005 Valtellina Superiore Riserva Grumello 16.5 Drink 2012-20
Good year, small but fine harvest, will be Riserva level. Attractive light crimson/orange. Very aromatic nose, predominantly dried cherries at this stage. Good acidity, clean cherry fruit, aggressive grippy tannins. A big structure to age and develop. Very drying and mouth puckering at present. Small production – 5,500 litres made. (PH).
