Winemaker Chris Boiling, who sent this report on the Famoso grape, sends this two-part report on the latest winemaking trends in a small country with big potential in the wine world.
Slovenia has a long history of winemaking, some of the world's best and prettiest sites, a talented band of winemakers, and more than 20 wine roads. It also offers a twist on international grape varieties, a couple of world-class regional varieties (Šipon/Furmint and Rebula/Ribolla Gialla), and a few promising local grapes.
