A bouquet for Bordeaux

I must admit that my general tone when describing the Bordeaux market is one of cynicism and scepticism, so it is only fair that I should compliment the great majority of Bordeaux château owners on their conduct of the 2008 primeurs campaign. After much huffing and puffing during the primeurs tasting sessions, blustering about how they couldn’t possibly reduce the price of the 2008s because of the damage it would do to the price of the two previous vintages, the great majority of them seem to have heeded common sense and reduced their 2008 prices quite dramatically on 2007 levels...
