Jacques Devauges of Domaine des Lambrays

The ninth of our alphabetically organised tasting articles collating reviews of all the young burgundy 2023s tasted by Matthew in the Côte d’Or and by Jancis, Julia and Tam in London. Matthew took the photo above of Jacques Devauges of Domaine des Lambrays when visiting the domaine to taste the 2023s from barrel. See also this guide to our coverage of this vintage in Burgundy.

These 149 tasting notes are grouped alphabetically by producer (sur)name and within those groups are ordered whites before reds, ascending from generic through village, premiers and grands crus.

Domaine Pierre Labet (Beaune)

Certified biodynamic. Cask sample.
Open, ripe citrus fruit with a light note of creamy/mealy lees influence. Light-bodied and relatively soft. Pure, with some green fruits on the finish. Not very substantial. (JH)

Drink 2026 – 2029
£230 per case of 6 ib Corney & Barrow

Certified biodynamic. Cask sample.
More intensity than on the Bourgogne Vieilles Vignes, more piercing citrus. Light-grained texture adds another dimension to this medium-bodied white, which seems to freshen up on the finish. (JH)

Drink 2026 – 2030
£355 per case of 6 ib Corney & Barrow

Certified biodynamic. Cask sample.
Light-to-mid crimson. Extremely sweet-fruited. Smooth, almost chalky tannins. The freshness from a touch of sour red fruit as much as from the acidity. (JH)
