Chile & Argentina – whose top wines are better?

We all know that the quality of South American wine has been improving. Both Chile and Argentina are making ever more sophisticated wines with each vintage. This is why I was particularly keen to accept the World of Fine Wine's invitation to taste blind some of each country's finest last October.
It had been billed as a comparison of these countries' wine icons, a term I disapprove of. At least I disapprove of producers' calling their own wines 'icons'. Icon status has to be earned from third parties rather than conferred. But anyway it was a great collection of...
